Dry Forest is a deeply personal and urgent commitment in my artistic practice, as it addresses the escalating environmental crisis unfolding across the globe. This series reflects the alarming transformation of landscapes due to prolonged droughts and intensifying wildfires—phenomena that are no longer isolated incidents but recurring emergencies. California, in particular, has been profoundly affected by these devastating fires, yet it is not the sun alone that drives rising temperatures. Human activity, deforestation, and climate change play undeniable roles in this crisis. Through layered textures and evocative imagery, my Dry Forest paintings serve as a visual record of both destruction and resilience, urging viewers to recognize the fragility of our ecosystems. I will be bringing select works from this series to the show, hoping to spark conversation and inspire reflection on our collective responsibility in safeguarding the future of our forests.
